So after years of ideas for books, I finally decided that it would be time to start to write my story. In July it was Camp NaNoWriMo. Some could say that this was the perfect month. I had no university as I had finished for the summer, had little to no plans except for YALC at the end of the month and had lots and lots of time. This may lead you to wonder why I did not write my story.
Well, truth is I was scared.
I had already written about 2000 words of my story and I was enjoying it. I mean I love writing anyway but writing my own story was different. It was my world. My characters. My everything. I even felt like I was putting myself into this book but something was stopping me. Holding me back. This was hindering my writing. I just thought that everything I was written was rubbish and then I wanted to change it but all the changes that I had to do were scary and I just did not want to change them. This is so weird and I don't know why I did not but that was the way that it happened.
I clearly did not reach the 50,000 words that NaNoWriMo has the target for but to me this does not matter.
I used the word failed in the title of this post but I would not call it a failure. No I did not reach the target that the challenge was set at and I did not win the challenge but I know that it sounds cliche but I still feel like I was a winner.
I started the story that I wanted to write for the longest time based on an idea that I have had for longer than 3 years. This to me is a success. I have written something. This something will become a book and although my WIP (Work In Progress) has not been finished it is getting there. More than the book getting there, I have to be in the right place. I guess I have learnt that I can't edit a blank page, just getting the book written is the goal and I am ready to write.
I have dedicated at least 30 minutes a day to get writing done. To make sure that I write it. I also have the passion to write so hopefully I will update you soon...
