As I am sitting here writing this blog post, I should be editing a blog post that I am going to be assessed for, but instead, I am writing this. I'm just gonna get to the point, this is the last day that I am going to be a teenager, and as I am writing this tomorrow, the day that I am going to post this I am going to be 20. 20. I think it is too early to have a mid-life crisis, but seriously I'm turning 20 really? Anyway, I have seen lots of posts about the things that people have learnt in 20 years, and I wanted to do one so here goes...
1. You will grow up, it is a fact of life but your age is nothing but a number, and you can always be young in your heart.
2. You will lose touch with people. It is a fact of life but even though you will lose contact with people does not mean you can't think about them every day.
3. Your passions are important, don't forget them. If you think that you are alone in these passions, you are probably wrong. Find those people and don't let go.
4. Your mental and physical health are important, if you feel like anything is wrong with them, get help.
5. Life is messy sometimes, but you will get through it, there is always light at the end of a tunnel.
6. Be a little kinder than you have to (OK so this is from We Were Liars but still relevant)
7. Do what you love... (Cliche but true)
8. Rejections are a part of life. Those who can face rejection, are the ones who keep on going and are one step closer to their dreams.
9. Friends are important but don't forget your family, they are important are they in my case are there for me. (Thanks, guys)
10. Love what you love even if it is that cheesy boy band or that really so called terrible book.
11. Sometimes going out of your comfort zone is good but only do it if you feel ready.
12. Always be early. (It will save you so much trouble.)
13. FOMO is a thing that happens, but you should never undervalue your own company and a good book.
14. The internet can be the best and worst thing in the world although I have had some of my best times on the internet.
15. Sometimes things will happen that you don't argee with. It's these things that we should continue to fight for until they are achieved.
16. Don't go out with wet hair, especially if it is -2. (I still have not mastered this one.)
17. Sing loudly to your favourite songs even if you are terrible.
18. READ! (I don't understand why you wouldn't want to but...)
19. Drive your own path. Be you, be unique, and don't follow the crowd.
20. Keep on learning. You still have a lot more to know, even though I don't know what they are yet.
OK, so they are some of the things that I have learnt in 20 years.
What is some advice that you have gathered over the years?
See you soon,
Amy
