Most Anticipated Reads of 2018

There are some great books coming out in 2018 and I thought that I would mention 5 that I am really excited about. These are in no particular order so let get started... 1. Floored by  Sara Barnard ,   Holly Bourne ,  Tanya Byrne ,  Non Pratt ,  Melinda Salisbury ,  Lisa Williamson,   Eleanor Wood I am so excited for this book! I got to read a sampler at YALC and this was definitely one of my favourites. I found the plot to be interesting and I can't wait to see where it goes. The authors aren't telling us who writes who which makes it even more intriguing. I just have to wait until July...  2. As yet titled Book by Alice Oseman I have been a fan of Alice's for the longest time and I love both of her books that she has released so far. I am therefore excited about Alice's new release which states that it is being released in January but I don't think that this is the case. I am excited about it whenever it will come out. 3. Second B...

Book Reviews: Walker Edition: Truth or Dare, The Hate U Give, Honor Girl and Release

* I have received this book for review from the publisher but this in no way affects my review * Title: Truth or Dare Author: Non Pratt Source: From Publisher  Publisher: Walker Rating: 4/5 stars ( Goodreads | Amazon ) Book Review: Non Pratt is quickly becoming one of my go-to UKYA authors as I find her books so enjoyable and entertaining. Truth or Dare is no exception being a fast-paced and all round enjoyable read. I had been anticipating Truth or Dare for a long time before its release and when it came out I picked it up in an evening knowing that I was going to have a good time. Saying this, although I knew that I would enjoy the story I didn't expect to love it as much as I did.  I was captivated by the first part of the story and I ended up reading the whole book in one evening because I was so invested in the story. I did, however, find that I wasn't as in love with the second part of the story as I don...

5 "Unknown" Books I Love

In the blogging world, many books can become hyped and others can be left behind. In this blog post, I would like to take a look at some books that I love that you may not have heard of. So let's get started...  1. In Bloom by Matthew Crow I read In Bloom years ago and I really enjoyed it. It is a really touching story about a boy who is suffering from cancer and was also really funny and endearing. More people should definitely read this one!  2. North of Porter by Kirkland Ciccone North of Porter is a strange and weird book but I mean this in the best way as I really enjoyed this book when I read it a couple of years ago and it was one of my favourite books of the year. If you can find it I definitely recommend it! 3. Tell Us Something True by Dana Reinhardt Tell Us Something True is a great contemporary that I don't know if a lot of people have heard of but it is a really short book which is really interested and I loved reading, I ...

Book Review: Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley

* I have received this book for review from the publisher but this in no way affects my review * Title: Our Own Private Universe Author: Robin Talley Source: From Publisher  Publisher: HQYA Rating: 4/5 stars ( Goodreads | Amazon ) Book Review Summary from  Goodreads : Fifteen-year-old Aki Simon has a theory. And it’s mostly about sex. No, it isn’t that kind of theory. Aki already knows she’s bisexual–-even if, until now, it’s mostly been in the hypothetical sense. Aki’s theory is that she’s only got one shot at living an interesting life–-and that means she’s got to stop sitting around and thinking so much. It’s time for her to actually do something. Or at least try. So when Aki and her friend Lori set off on a trip to a small Mexican town for the summer, and Aki meets Christa–-slightly-older, far-more-experienced–-it seems her theory is prime for the testing. But something tells her its not going to be that easy… Book Rev...

Disappointing Books of the Year (Mini Reviews)

So before I tell you in a couple of days what my favourite reads of the year are, I thought that we could go to the darker side of my reading habits for the yeat and look at my most disappointing reads of the read. So let's get started... Heartless by Marissa Meyer I am a massive fan of Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles series and was really excited about reading Heartless but I can't help but feel slightly disappointed with Heartless. This isn't to say that I didn't like it, it was a good read but I was disappointed in comparison to how much I adore her other series.  I did like the characters to some extent but the plot was quite weird to me so I just couldn't connect to it as much as I wanted to. I did really enjoy it towards the end of the book but it was a little hard for me to get into which was a little sad for me.  I will continue to read her books, however, and am excited about her future releases.  The November Criminals by Sam Munson  ...

2 Book Reviews: I'll Be Home For Christmas and A Change Is Gonna Come

* I have received this book for review from Readers First but this in no way affects my review * Title: I'll Be Home For Christmas  Author: Various Source: From NetGalley Publisher: Stripes Rating: 4/5 stars ( Goodreads| Amazon) Book Review: I was really excited to read I'll Be Home For Christmas as it contains some of my favourite UKYA and dealt with home at Christmas which was a theme that I was excited to read about. I really did enjoy this collection and it is a great read around Christmas, obviously. Short stories are hit and miss for me, I often feel that I love some stories that then just find some average but this was not the case for this anthology and I really enjoyed all the stories although I do have some favourites. I also really liked the varying stories in the collection and think that they all tackled the theme differently which was something that I really enjoyed.  As I said, I did have some favourites and I really loved "The  F...

Announcement: 12 (Or more) Days of Blogmas

So after a random thought to me today (23th December) and I have thought to do blog posts that occur in the 12 days of Christmas! That's right, 12 days and 12 blog posts. OK so maybe a little bit more but... So why?  Well that's a good question? It turns out that I am very behind on book reviews and there is a lot of posts that I would like to do before the end of the year so this gives me the opportunity to do so.  I have also not been posting that regularly in the past year. This is partly because of university as I am so busy to do blog posts and it is Christmas so although I should be doing university work. I need some time off so I am doing some posts.  There will be a lot of variety of posts from my favourite books to a variety of book reviews. So stay tuned! I am very excited about this and hopefully it will be successful. Hopefully... Hope you have a nice Christmas and happy holidays! See you soon, Amy
